Much discussion and interest has been generated since ruling on Jimmo v Sebelius has occurred. However, the issue of maintenance therapy has been a component of the Medicare Part A Home Health Benefit long before this court case. Currently, many home health agencies, as well as their therapy staff, have limited or no experience in addressing the issue of maintenance therapy.

Concerns and questions frequently presented to Kornetti & Krafft Health Care Solutions regarding maintenance therapy in the home health setting focus on proper beneficiary identification, supportive documentation, therapy utilization and billing procedures. Getting this information right is critical for any organization to ensure that the revenue generated by this arm of the home health benefit is soundly protected in the audit-intensive environment the industry is experiencing.

These seminars intend to provide the attendee/participant with clear and concise information about the do's & don'ts of home health maintenance therapy. Presentation and discussion will include guidelines for therapy documentation, utilization, billing codes, and patient scenarios.

The content is divided as follows and each seminar is 90 minutes in length:

  • Part 1: Regulations and Definitions - July 19th
  • Part 2: Assessments and Care Planning - August 2nd
  • Part 3: Reassessments and Follow Up Visits - August 16th

Each session includes a recorded copy of the event to make sure no one in your organization misses this important information.

Faculty: Cindy Krafft PT, MS, HCS-O, brings more than 20 years of home health expertise that ranges from direct patient care to operational / management issues as well as a passion for understanding regulations. Years spent in the direct patient environment solidified that this was the optimal setting for the provision of effective and efficient interdisciplinary care as it focuses on functionality and patient centered care delivery. Recognition that the providing care in the home environment presents both unique opportunities and challenges is clearly evident in both training and consultation activities.

For the past 15 years, Cindy has been a nationally recognized educator in the areas of documentation, regulation, therapy utilization and OASIS. She currently serves on multiple Technical Expert Panels with CMS Contractors working on clinical and payment reforms such as bundled payment care initiatives and alternatives to the current relationship between therapy visits and episodic payment. She was instrumental in reducing the burden placed on the industry due to the timing of functional reassessments by diligently working with both APTA and CMS. Her focus is on providing the knowledge and tools critical to the post-acute continuum of care to operationalize external requirements while keeping the driver of care where it needs to be - the needs of each patient being cared for in the home setting.

Dee Kornetti, a physical therapist for 30 years, is a past administrator and co-owner of a Medicare-certified home health agency. Dee now provides training and education to home health industry providers through a consulting business, Kornetti & Krafft Health Care Solutions, with her business partners Cindy Krafft and Sherry Teague, where she serves as its Chief Operations Officer.

Dee is nationally recognized as a speaker in the areas of home care, standardized tests and measures in the field of physical therapy, therapy training and staff development in the home health arena. Dee is the immediate past Editor of the Quarterly Report, a publication of the American Physical Therapy Association's (APTA) Home Health Section,  as well as member of the Home Health Section's Practice and Education Committees.  She currently serves the Home Health Section as its President.
