Cancellation Policy Cancellations must be made in writing or by email to Christine Opiela at christine@hcaw.org. Cancellations received before October 22nd are subject to a 15% fee. Cancellations received after October 22nd are subject to a 40% fee. No refunds will be issued after October 31st. Outstanding invoices after October 31st are due in full and no adjustments will be made. Registrations cannot be shared, but if a registrant cannot attend, then substitutions are allowed at no additional fee.

Jeff Sobotka MBA, PMP, CPHIT, CHP | Qualis Health
Jeff is a Quality Improvement and HIT Consultant for Qualis Health. He has over 25 years of experience in Healthcare IT, Project Management, HIPAA security, and EHR selection and implementation. Jeff has worked at Qualis Health for Home Health clients, Cardiovascular Prevention initiatives supporting Million Hearts, Value Based Purchasing, QPP/MIPS, and Meaningful Use initiatives. Jeff has also provided technical and business process consulting to Ambulatory groups. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree, Project Management Certificate and CPHIMS certification.

J'non Griffin, RN, MHA, HCS-D, HCS-H, HCS-C, COS-C | Home Health Solutions, LLC
J’non Griffin is a 30 year veteran of home care as an RN, a national full service consultant in home health and hospice, and is a nationally recognized speaker on a variety of pertinent home health and hospice topics. She has several publications in the home health and hospice market, and has developed agency tools and products for sale.

She received her Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration in 2005.  She has experience as a field nurse, director and executive with home health and hospice agencies, both large and small. She has served as Director of Staff Development and Appeals for home health and hospice agencies. She has taken part in mock surveys for agencies, and prepared agencies for accreditation. She has been directly involved in accreditation surveys, acquisitions and many regulatory crises with state survey agencies and the intermediary. J’non is certified as a Homecare Coding Specialist-Diagnosis (HCS-D), Certified in OASIS competency, COS-C, Hospice certified coder (HCS-H) Homecare Compliance (HCS-C) and is an AHIMA approved ICD-10-CM trainer/ambassador. 

Margaret Holm, JD, RN | Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission
Margaret has been an RN and an attorney for over 30 years. Since June 2012, Ms. Holm has been a nursing consultant for the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission. In this role she provides consultation and educational activities relating to various aspects of the Commission’s nursing regulations. Ms. Holm’s nursing experience includes medical/surgical, critical care, psychiatric, discharge planning and forensic nursing. After obtaining her law degree, she practiced in the fields of professional malpractice, personal injury, health care law and adoption. Prior to her joining the Nursing Commission, she served as a health law judge. Ms. Holm is a frequent speaker in state, national and international venues. She has served on a number of professional boards and currently serves on a board for international institutional research review. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Attorneys.

Barb Hansen, MA, RN | Washington State Hospice & Palliative Care Organization
Barb received her BS in Nursing from the Oregon Health and Sciences University and completed the Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Education Program at Emory University. She received a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at Oregon State University with a focus on Gerontology and Community Health. Barb has an extensive background in end-of-life care. She has served in many roles, some of which include; Home Health and Hospice Nurse Case Manager and Clinical Coordinator, Home Care Surveyor for the Joint Commission on the Accreditation for Healthcare; Wound, Ostomy, Continence RN, and Director of a Hospice, a Hospice Inpatient Unit and a Home Health program. Currently, Barb serves as the CEO of the Oregon Hospice and Palliative Care Association and Executive Director of the Washington State Hospice & Palliative Care Organization.  In her spare time, Barb enjoys camping, baking and trying to get her Basset Hound to walk nicely on a leash. 

John Hilger, MSW | Washington State Department of Health
John Hilger joined the Department of Health in 2008 as a rules coordinator and has served as the In-Home Services Program Manager since 2012. John is primarily responsible for rule and policy development, legislative bill analysis, and providing licensing related technical assistance to applicants as well as active licensees. John works closely with the department’s survey office on licensing and compliance issues. John also manages the department’s licensing programs for ambulatory surgical facilities and childbirth centers. Before joining DOH, John worked for 9 years at the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), Home and Community Services determining Medicaid eligibility for vulnerable adults in need of In-Home Services and long-term residential care. John holds a Master Degree in Social Work and lives in Lakewood, WA with his wife and family.
