In-Home Services Advocacy Day
In-Home Services Advocacy Day
Date: January 27-28, 2022
Time: 7:30am-4:00pm
The 2022 Legislative Session is a “short” 60-day session, starting on January 11, 2022, and bills will move very quickly through the legislative process this year! This is your chance to meet virtually with your local legislators and other agency leaders in your area to advocate, pro or con, for legislation that impacts in-home services providers!
For over 8 years our In-Home Services associations have met with state legislators collaborating on a legislative agenda to support home care, home health, hospice, and palliative care. There will be an orientation prior to the In-Home Services Advocacy Days to go over our talking points and discuss how to talk to your legislators, especially if there are several people in your meetings. Typically, you will have three 15-minute meetings, as you have one Senator and two House of Representatives in your district. They will probably be scheduled a different time during the 2-day advocacy days. Some agencies may want to meet with more legislators in their service area.
We are urging you to advocate with your legislators on important issues for in-home services. Please register for the event by filling out your name, agency, in-home services association, legislative district number, and the legislators in your district. Please enter the information by going to this Google Forms link: In-Home Services Advocacy Day Registration.
All registrations received will be added to a SharePoint “living document’ so everyone can see who is attending from their association and legislative district! Here is how to find out who your legislators are:
Click on Find your legislative district. Provide your home address, not your business, as they want their constituent. This website will give you the number of your legislative district as well as a list of your three legislators (one Senator and two Representatives). You can click on those links for more information about your legislators.
Since many of you will have the same legislative district, I will be scheduling the meeting with your legislator’s legislative assistant (LAs) and letting them know who the constituents will be in these meetings. I will finalize the talking points about a week prior to the advocacy days as most of the new bills will be introduced by then and we can put them on our talking point handout for legislators.
I am looking forward to working with you to support and advocate for our In-Home Services providers in WA State!
