    ACHC Updates Response to COVID-19 

    The difficulties of dealing with the evolving COVID-19 situation are presenting new challenges every day. To help providers respond more effectively, Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) is temporarily changing certain accreditation policies and procedures in accordance with the latest directives from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

     

    For now, we are postponing surveys in states identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as having more than 500 reported cases of COVID-19, as well as areas where residents were ordered to shelter in place by authorities. Limited surveys may be conducted for certain cases, like Immediate Jeopardy.

     

    ACHC also is temporarily suspending all deemed recertification surveys for home health, hospice, and renal dialysis facilities. Additionally, we are suspending recertification surveys for DMEPOS providers for 90 days. Postponed surveys will be rescheduled later and accreditation certification dates will be extended.


    ACHC is still conducting some initial certification surveys for providers, when possible. There is a critical need for new community-based providers and we are here to serve you and your communities. We say this out of sincere care and concern for the health and safety of you, your employees, and patients, as well as our own staff, and support your efforts to provide safe, quality care.

     

    During this time of crisis, we are genuinely grateful for the courageous efforts of all healthcare professionals, and are doing our part to help ensure that providers are fully operational and prepared to respond to the increased demands of the coronavirus situation.

For your convenience, we also added an FAQ section on our COVID-19 webpage that gives answers to your most frequently asked questions and will continue to update the FAQs as more information becomes available.
